About the position
As Head of Legal & Compliance at Mercedes-Benz Sweden/Denmark, you will lead and coordinate the daily operations of our cross-functional team. Your focus will be on compliance programs and legal matters across all business activities in both Mercedes-Benz Sverige and Mercedes-Benz Danmark. You´ll work closely with various departments and lead a team of Compliance and Legal Specialists, primarily addressing topics related to the distribution of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and vans, after-sales services, and other connected offerings.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Leadership
• Lead, motivate, manage, and develop the Legal & Compliance team, recognizing each team member´s strengths and expertise to achieve shared goals.
Compliance
• Lead, coordinate and operationally work on the maintenance of an effective Compliance Management System for all relevant areas at the Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans business units in Sweden and Denmark, in line with corporate standards and local regulations. Our compliance programs span anti-corruption and fraud, sanctions lists, anti-money laundering, antitrust and data protection.
This includes ensuring:
• Conducting compliance risk assessments, performance monitoring, and reporting.
• Supporting local management in implementing and maintaining effective compliance programs.
• Promoting compliance and integrity awareness across the organization.
• Securing collaboration and support from management and employees.
• Establishing governance structures and procedures for oversight.
• Implementing clear standards for ethical and business conduct.
• Applying risk-based control procedures.
• Delivering ongoing communication and training on compliance topics to internal stakeholders and external partners.
Legal
• Manage all legal matters of Mercedes-Benz Sverige AB and Mercedes-Benz Danmark A/S and related legal entities in Sweden and Denmark.
This includes:
• Advising management and business units on legal aspects of decision-making.
• Analyzing legal issues in areas such as commercial law, automotive law, contracts, antitrust, IP, and consumer law.
• Structuring business models from a legal perspective and proposing viable alternatives when needed.
• Drafting, coordinating, and negotiating legal documents (contracts, correspondence, corporate documents) internally and externally.
• Monitoring legal developments and regulatory updates, ensuring necessary adjustments to policies and processes, and providing ongoing legal training.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Managing litigation and proceedings, including selecting and overseeing external counsel.
• Coordinating significant legal matters with your counterpart at Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Germany.
This role reports directly to the CEO, with a dotted line to the Legal & Compliance function at Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Germany. This is a full-time position based in Malmö, with frequent travel to our Danish office, with occasional trips to Germany.
About you
We´re looking for someone with a Swedish and/or Danish law degree and at least 8–10 years of relevant legal experience, either from a law firm or an in-house role. Proven leadership experience is essential. You should have a strong grasp of distribution models and commercial agreements and be adept at problem-solving in a global context.
You´re a skilled communicator and excel in stakeholder management. You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments, can juggle multiple priorities, and bring structure and clarity to complex situations. You´re comfortable working independently under tight deadlines and possess strong analytical and learning abilities. Integrity and sound judgment are key traits.
You have excellent business English and are fluent in Swedish and/or Danish. German language skills are a plus but not required.
